This looks very promising! I bought PhotoShop Elements and only use 1% of what it can do. I think I bought way over my head.

From what I've been reading lately, this is the future of all softwar. Web-based rather than installed on you PC. This site seems like a great resource. Many times I've been using PCs that don't have image software installed. It's handy to be able to edit a picture on the fly.

Thanks for sharing. It will be very useful tool for me. I am currently using Photoshop CS2 and Gimp 2 and having an online equivalent will mean I can design anywhere and not be restricted to the PC where the software is installed.

These looks like it could be a pretty useful tool. Like the idea of being able to edit online (especially when my own version of Photoshop crashes more than a bad F1 driver)

I hope that Splasup will really change the technique of working. It is really going to make the work very easy and fast as compared from Photoshop.

For the average developer PS is more program than they will ever need, and at a large expense. It is nice to know there is a decent alternative.
thanks! Even though I already have photoshop I will experiment with this.

I always used to need PhotoShop and the biggest problem has been, finding it and installing it. I see that Splushup is going to change this totally. Thanks for the info.

There are a lot of people in the market which do our work at a very low price. This is a very good practice of making others do your work at a very low price. This helps us a lot to concentrate on our important work.

Stumbled across your blog and thought I'd share a recent development. Wired just wrote an article on the newest beta program from Photoshop, "Photoshop Express," that is free for the public to use: http://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2008/03/adobe.... It's an online version of PS with simple features for anyone to access at no price. Looks promising!

Wow! This is great. I use about 3 features of photoshop. I'll have to look into this more but from first glance it looks like it will handle 95% of what I need to do. Thanks for sharing.

Being somewhat of an artist myself i just had to check this site. I must say I was impressed. This online drawing app has all the basic function the mass user needs and is in fact easier to use and more useful than some commercial products I own. In fact i think I'm going to use it quite often myself. Thanks for the great post!

if you looking for free photoshop alternative then consider GimPhoto.
Actually GimPhoto is GIMP modification with new PS menu layout, packed with many great plugins, such as: separation, save for web, batch process, noise removal and photography filters, and also improved with new brushset, new gradientset, every aspect is tweaked to improve user usability.
At first I was going to dismiss this as a bad attempt to clone Photoshop as many others have tried to do, and failed might I add. However, after I really took a look into... well, I loved it. It has basically all the same features as Photoshop (minus some of the more advanced ones), which makes it very convient as I can just open another tab and edit my images. Bookmarking the tool for sure, thanks for spreading the word about it.

Not on topic with web-based alternatives, but anyone looking for photoshop like capabilities, but smaller and lighter, should check out Paint.Net ... it's free, pretty high quality, and in between mspaint and photoshop in complexity.

Thanks a lot for that!!! I have been looking around for something that can do bits of pieces of what photoshop can. I can't justify spending the money to buy it. This looks like just what I have been looking for.
